Luke Jackson, a born rebel, shaking the very world he lives in. COOL HAND LUKE is a film portraying the very man above, starring the deceased Paul Newman, who is sent to a prison chain gang for a number of things. The film starts out showing him extremely drunk, walking the streets of his very own southern town, cutting the heads off parking meters. As the film goes on, his stay there seems to be a little harder than others'. Why? He refuses to conform to society's way of life and its rules. "You're an original. That's what you are!" as quoted by a fellow inmate Dragline (George Kennedy, standing with Paul Newman). The original also refuses to be broken by the bosses at this chain gang. While being pushed to his limits, his mother later passes, and takes it pretty hard. Continuously escaping the 'gang, he is continuously being brought back, and pushed further each time. How does he take the passing of his mother? Is he ever broken? Watch the film to find out! For a special little clip in the film, after recieving the news of his mother, as he sings plastic jesus, click here.
